Training Requirements for Members

All members of Union Grove Volunteer Fire Department are required to maintain 40 hours of training per year. Medical Responders and EMT-B are required by Iredell county to have 24 hours of continuing education per year. Members are also encouraged to train to state level Firefighter I & II certification and Driver/Operator certification, but it is not required. Members must be NFPA 1403 (Basic Structural Fire Fighting) trained before entering a structure fire. Members are required to train to State Level of Hazmat Awareness.

If you are interested in serving your community, have initiative, drive and determination please submit your information HERE or come by and fill out an application. Applications are available Monday through Friday 9am-3pm or Monday evenings. No previous fire experience required.

To be eligible for membership:

Be at least 18 years old (16 years for Junior Fireman with parental permission).

Have a valid driver's license and good driving record.

Live in the Union Grove area.

Be in good physical and mental health.

Complete and return your application and the Personnel Committee will review and vote on your membership. Once voted in you will be contacted with further information.
